According to the authors, the found egg is the oldest evidence of the existence of this taxon in the world.

Scientists explored the Bazura cave and in one ofcore samples scientists have found eggs or embryos of a parasitic worm. The shape of this shell was round, and the color was brown. The egg size was 39.29 x 33.99 micrometers.
The formation in which the parasite was found dates back to315-278 thousand years. According to the researchers, this is the first case of finding a helminth egg in speleothems, as well as the oldest evidence of the existence of parasites of this family in the world.
Earlier, during the exploration of the cave, scientiststhey said that bears lived in it. The remains of charcoal were also found on its walls, and on the floor were traces of five people: two adults, a teenager and two children. They visited the cave about 14 thousand years ago.
