Researchers at the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania have found a way to detect
Results based on previous onesResearch from the University of Pennsylvania demonstrates that an imaging agent detected using guided technology during a real-time biopsy can effectively highlight cancer cells that may have been too small to be detected by existing technologies.
Based on more easily identifiablepresence of fluorescent cancer cells obtained using a new imaging approach, five non-experts diagnosed malignant or non-malignant tissue biopsies with 96 percent accuracy and made no false negatives in the 20 human biopsy samples analyzed.
The results of the study are published this week in the journal Nature Communications.
