The Perseverance rover showed how it "inherited" on the Red Planet

NASA's Perseverance rover captured a panorama of the Red Planet's newly created sample warehouse. She's done

from 368 images sent to Earth. In total, Perseverance spent more than a month mapping the locations of 10 titanium tubes.

The photo below shows the location.10 test tubes with samples in storage. The Amalek sample closest to the rover was at a distance of about 3 meters; the farthest samples—Magaik and Malay—are approximately 60 meters from the rover. Credits: NASA/JPL-Caltech/ASU/MSSS

Eight of them are filled with stone and regolith(crushed stone and dust). One of them contains samples of the atmosphere, and the last one is a witness test tube. It is pre-filled with a variety of materials that trap molecular contaminants and particulate matter. They are being discovered on the surface of Mars to “witness” the environment near the collection sites.

The rover photographed the test tubes usingMastcam-Z cameras at the top of their “mast” on January 31, 2023. The colors in the image have been adjusted to show the Martian surface approximately as it appears to the human eye.
