Unlike what was presented a few days agoSamsung Galaxy Fold (it was mentioned several times during the presentation), Huawei Mate X has one large screen. This is an 8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2480x2200 pixels

It folds outwards, not inwards, separatingin two parts: a 6.6-inch with a resolution of 2480×1148 and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a 6.39-inch with a resolution of 2480×892 pixels and an aspect ratio of 25:9. Both displays can be used.

On the side of the smaller display there is a thicker bar with hardware and a triple Leica camera (40+16+8 megapixels). It can also be used for selfies: the smartphone does not have a separate front camera.

Next to the camera there is a power button with a fingerprint scanner in combination.
The Mate X is 5.4mm thick when unfolded, 11mm when folded, and is thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

What's inside
The foldable smartphone has 5G support and is workingrunning a proprietary Kirin 980 processor paired with a 5G Balong 5000 modem. They promise download speeds of up to 4.6 Mbit/s. There is only one memory volume: 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM, but with the possibility of expansion using nanoSD memory cards.

Inside are two 4500 mAh batteries with supportultra-fast charging with a power of 55 W, which will add 85% to the charge in just 30 minutes, NFC and a hybrid slot for two SIM cards or one SIM card and a memory card. The device runs Android 9 Pie OS with the proprietary EMUI 9.1.1 shell.
The folding smartphone weighs 295 grams.

When and why to wait
Huawei Mate X will go on sale in the middle of this year; the company did not give more specific dates. It will cost €2,299. By comparison, Samsung priced its Galaxy Fold at $1,980.
