Warner Bros.has been trying to find a way to return to the Matrix universe for the past couple of years, but delays in obtaining rights have slowed down the project. Over the past few months, the studio has finally had the opportunity to accelerate the start of development. The film will reportedly begin production in 2020. Screenwriter Lana Wachowski says:
“Many of the ideas that Lilly and I have been sharing for 20 yearsback in our universe have become even more relevant now. I'm thrilled to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends."
Plot details have not yet been revealed, so we will wait for details. In the meantime, you can remember where it all began, besides, this year the first part “celebrates” its 20th anniversary.
