Meat grown in the lab using a magnetic field

Scientists from the National University of Singapore have found a new way to produce artificial meat.

Stimulation of cell growth is provided with the help of magnets.dependence on animal products, more sustainable, cleaner, safer and more cost-effective.

In their work, Singaporean scientists usedpulsed magnetic field. In response to a short 10-minute exposure to magnetic fields, cells release a variety of molecules that have regenerative, metabolic, anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties, the authors explain.

These substances - "secrets" - can be usedto stimulate the growth and development of artificial muscle cells instead of whey. The researchers note that the proposed method is much cheaper than the traditional one. At the same time, it is less rigid, since it does not require the killing of animals and excludes the transmission of diseases from serum donors.

Traditionally for the production of artificial meatanimal cells are placed in a special serum that helps them grow and multiply. As a rule, it is a mixture obtained from the blood of fetuses cut from pregnant cows slaughtered in traditional meat or dairy production.

The authors also showed that the obtainedsecret can be used not only in production, but also in regenerative medicine. With the help of these substances, they accelerated the recovery of damaged cells.
