Media: Disney is preparing a new Star Wars trilogy, but based on the KOTOR universe

The Star Wars cinematic universe may soon be expanded with a film based on Knights of the Old Republic, a game from BioWare.

Buzzfeed spoke about Disney's plans.citing its own sources that are close to the project. According to an insider, Laeta Kalogridis, who worked on “Terminator Genisys,” “Alita: Battle Angel” and “Avatar,” took on the script for the film.

Disney hired the writer back in the spring of 2018.and Kalogridis has almost finished the story of the KOTOR film, which could become the beginning of a new trilogy. The source did not share details about the plot, but did mention Jedi girl Bastila Shan, Darth Malak and Revan, who are familiar to KOTOR fans.

People first started talking about a film based on the BioWare game universe back in April at Star Wars Celebration. Then Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said that the studio was preparing something dedicated to KOTOR:

“You know, we talk about this a lot. Yes, we are currently developing something. For now, I don’t know how everything will turn out, but we will make sure that everything is in the spirit of Star Wars."
