Media: Germany is going to allow the supply of Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine

Recently, the German government approved the supply of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, and now plans to also allow

transfer of Leopard 1 tanks.

What is known

The information was shared by some German media.If the supplies are approved and Germany is able to resolve the issue with ammunition, then the companies Rheinmetall and Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG) will prepare dozens of tanks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Leopard 1 is Germany's main battle tank.It began to be developed after World War II together with France, but then the cooperation was stopped. Leopard 1 is in service with 12 countries. Thanks to a modernization program it is still in use today. By the way, by 1984, about 4,744 units of Leopard 1 were produced. The tank participated in the Bosnian War, as well as in the War in Afghanistan.
