What is known
This is the manufacturer's sixth 5G processor. The novelty is built on the 7-nanometer TSMC FinFET process technology and has eight cores: two ARM Cortex-A76 cores with a maximum frequency of 2.4 GHz and six ARM Cortex-A76 cores with a frequency of 2.0 GHz. If we compare Dimensity 800U with Dimensity 800, then the new product will have an advantage in a single-core test, but in a multi-core test it will be inferior to both Dimensity 800 and Dimensity 820.
A five-core processor is responsible for the graphics of the chip.accelerator Mali-G57. It has a separate AI chip and supports LPDDR4X RAM (up to 2133 MHz), as well as UFS 2.1 class drives. The new SoC also has a built-in 5G modem that operates in sub-6GHz, SA and NSA networks, as well as support for multiple cameras with a resolution of up to 64 MP and Full HD+ displays with a frequency of up to 120 Hz.
When to expect
The first smartphones based on MediaTek Dimensity 800U should be released this year.
