MediaTek will release a chip based on the four nanometer process technology for the first time in the world

Two independent sources have confirmed that MediaTek will become the first chipmaker to

will produce a single-chip system manufactured according to the standards of the 4-nanometer technological process.

Sources said that the company is allegedly negotiating with TSMC to conclude a contract for the production of 4nm and, in the future, 3nm platforms. There are prerequisites that MediaTek chips will win in the fight for 3nmrace even at Apple and Qualcomm.

Production is expected to begin either in the fourth quarter of 2021 or early next year.

It is also specified that among the customers of the new chips will be Oppo, Xiaomi, Samsung and Vivo. 

However, the transition to a more subtle technological process of making crystals can lead to a sharp rise in the cost of chips and, subsequently, smartphones themselves.
