According to Reuters, the corporation decided to closeproject due to budget cuts. All employees who were previously involved in the development of watches will be transferred to the department for creating augmented reality glasses.

Rumors about the development of Meta smartwatches have appearedin 2021. The new product was planned to be created to compete with the Apple Watch. The watch was supposed to have a design in the style of Fitbit devices, two cameras, an Android operating system, a heart rate sensor, as well as the ability to track steps, sleep and quickly publish content to Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

By the way, in addition to closing the project to develop smart watches, Meta is also going to lay off 11,000 employees in the coming days.
