Physicists and computer engineers have long been working to create a reliable and useful quantum computer. However, the work is hampered by the frequency of errors.

They developed a new way of presentinglogical qubit using a special device. It can induce a phase of matter characterized by Majorana zero modes. These are quasiparticles of particular interest in the field of quantum computing. They are named after the Italian physicist Ettore Majorana, who first theorized about them in 1937. Marjoram is unique in that it behaves like its own antiparticle.

They believe that this is the first step towards creating not only a quantum computer, but also a quantum supercomputer.

Microsoft also said that it has created a new measureto measure the performance of a quantum supercomputer: the number of reliable quantum operations per second (rQOPS). This figure describes how many reliable operations the computer can perform in one second.

Scientists suggest that in order for the machinequalified as a quantum supercomputer, rQOPS must be at least a million. They note that such machines can reach a billion rQOPS, which makes them really useful.
