Microsoft Surface Pro X weighs only 760 grams and is equipped with a Qualcomm processor with AI accelerator

Immediately after the announcement of the Surface Pro 7, Microsoft introduced the Microsoft Surface Pro X, a productive hybrid tablet.

The device is based on ARM architecture and, in addition to its small dimensions, boasts the most powerful Qualcomm processor.

What a beast

The Snapdragon 8cx chip installed in the Surface Pro Xwas presented in December last year, but there is relatively little information about it. The Microsoft tablet is the first production device with this processor, and Qualcomm created a special version of the chip called Surface SQ1 especially for the Surface. It is known that the platform has an AI accelerator built into it and, according to preliminary tests, it produces performance at the level of the Intel Core i5-8250U.

On top of all that, the Surface SQ1 has good power efficiency at just 7 watts, which is three times the performance per watt of the Surface Pro 6.

Tablet itself

Microsoft Surface Pro X looks likeskinny Surface Pro 7. It is 5.3mm thick and weighs 1.68 pounds (760 grams). The hybrid has a 13-inch PixelSense display with a resolution of 2880×1920, which corresponds to a pixel density of 267 PPI. The device is compatible with the Surface Slim Pen, which can be charged in a special slot above the keyboard. In addition, thanks to the ARM architecture, Surface Pro X supports LTE communications.

The Microsoft Surface Pro X can be pre-ordered now for $999 and will begin shipping in stores on November 5th.
