Microsoft will make it easier to switch default programs in Windows 11

Microsoft is promising significant changes to Windows regarding which programs control the opening of

certain file types by default, and how users can choose programs to pin to the “Start” on the Windows desktop or taskbar.

With the new URI, developers will be able tosend users directly to a specific location in settings to change the default app for certain types of files or links. Microsoft will also start separately testing an API that will allow programs to pin a primary or secondary tile to the taskbar.

When Windows 11 came out, it was confusing anda cumbersome default program setup process that was a step backwards from Windows 10 and required users to view each individual file type rather than just select their desired web browser or image editor, so the new system should simplify the experience of using the system for ordinary users.
