The Mighty Avengers in Action: First Gameplay of Marvel's Avengers: A-Day from Square Enix

Square Enix shared the first Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day gameplay trailer, showing the first mission of the game.

What was shown

In the 18-minute video, Thor and Ironman, Black Widow, Hulk and Captain America. Each hero showed off their abilities in direct combat with their opponents, including special moves and combos. The first level looks linear: characters move from point A to point B, scattering enemies. From time to time, the player is switched between heroes, giving them a chance to try out all the members of the Avengers team.

However, it is worth remembering that this is a training level,so the developers deliberately limit the player to a corridor, leading him by the hand. It's also worth noting that Marvel's Avengers has a lot of cutscenes and QTEs that require the player to quickly press a specified button. According to Square Enix, the game will focus on story, so this move is not surprising.

After completing the single player campaign, players“endgame” content will open, but it’s not yet clear what exactly gamers can expect. The developers “stammered” about cooperative missions, as well as regular updates with new locations and heroes. Perhaps players will be allowed into the open world.

Let us remind you that Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day will be released on May 15 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.
