Minecraft developer Mojang officially canceled the “Super Duper Graphics Pack” announced at E3 2017 as downloadable
Why
The graphics package was supposed to improve lighting andshadows reflecting water surfaces, flora and fauna textures and provide 4K resolution for the Xbox One X. According to Mojang, the package turned out to be too complicated in technical terms and the studio is not happy with how it worked on different devices. Initially, the update was planned to be released in the fall of 2017, then it was postponed to 2018, and now it has been completely canceled.
Minecraft with its current graphics works wellon almost any system, which is one of its main advantages. And with the addition of realistic textures and lighting, optimization problems may appear. Most likely, Mojang just decided not to take any chances.
But there is still hope for graphical updates. In its post, the studio noted:
“Minecraft is available on a wide range of platforms, and we are constantly trying to make the most of the technical architecture of each of them. Very soon we will tell more information on this subject. ”
