What's new

Innovations

first came into force in the USA (last Novemberyears), and will now spread to other countries. They imply the use of advertising in any video, including advertising breaks and content from authors who have not activated monetization.

“According to the new section of the document, YouTube canmonetize individual videos of authors who are not participating in the affiliate program. In November, advertising on such channels began in the United States, and from June this year we will launch it in other countries. This means that ads can now appear in some of your videos, even if you are not an affiliate. However, you will not receive income from such advertisements. If the channel reaches the desired indicators, as before, you will be able to join the affiliate program. The requirements for candidates, as well as the entry procedure itself, have not changed,” YouTube says in the updated agreement.

Additionally, YouTube is changing its rules regardingtaxation. If creators receive income from their videos, payments from YouTube will be treated as royalties and subject to appropriate taxes under US law.

“From June 1, 2021, payments from YouTube will becomeshall be considered royalties and will be subject to taxes under US law. As a result, partners who monetize their content will need to provide tax information in their AdSense account. Also, if required by US law, Google will begin to withhold taxes on their income,” the text of the agreement notes.
