Mortality in Russia has become a record over the past 10 years due to COVID-19

Against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, the mortality rate was 113.2 per 10 thousand population. According to estimates

publication, it has grown by more than 10% since 2019. And compared with data from 2010, the figure became the maximum: then it reached 119.3 deaths per 10 thousand living.

The total mortality rate for January-October 2020 was 1.661 million people. In 2010, which fell an abnormally hot summer, in January-October, the death rate reached 1.704 million people.

In 82 out of 85 regions of the country, mortality in ten months of this year also increased compared to 2019. In 33 regions, the indicator reached a maximum in 10 years.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova reported that in ten months of 2020, the increase in total mortality in the country amounted to 9.7% compared to the same period last year.
