Motorola: CNET journalists incorrectly tested the "clamshell" RAZR

The other day we wrote that the Motorola RAZR flip phone failed the strength test of CNET journalists. As it turned out,

the manufacturer is monitoring the situation and has even released an official statement regarding this matter.

What is known

According to a company representative, journalistsThe device was tested incorrectly. It turns out the FoldBot robot they used was not designed for the Motorola RAZR test. It creates a strong load on the hinge and breaks it.

"RAZR – this is a unique smartphone thatUnlike other devices on the market, it has a dynamic folding system. SquareTrade's FoldBot is not designed to test our device. Therefore, any tests performed using this robot will place excessive stress on the hinge and prevent the phone from opening and closing correctly. This makes the test inaccurate."

Motorola claims that the design is very durable and has been tested more than once. The company even published a video demonstrating how to test a smartphone.

“It is important to remember that the RAZR has been subject to extensiveendurance testing during product development and CNET's test is not indicative of what consumers will experience during actual use of a smartphone. We have full confidence in the RAZR's durability."
