MPOW H5 Review: $ 45 Noise Canceling Wireless Headphones

</ img>

After the review of MPOW T5 - extremely interesting TWS headphones, which were left with the editorsggthe best impressions,

I was already interested in trying another onean interesting model from the same manufacturer - full-size MPOW H5 headphones with active noise cancellation and an excellent price tag of $45. Usually we shy away from such prices, professing the principle “we are not so rich to pay money for cheap things,” but the first experience was positive, why not take a closer look at another device.

What is in the box

The headphones arrived while the MPOW review was being written.T5, so they lay idle for a couple of weeks in an unsightly-looking cardboard box. Which, by the way, can also be regarded as a good sign - instead of puffing out your cheeks and pretending to be someone you are not, the manufacturer decided to save on packaging, making it extremely simple. In general, this move seems logical - let them save (and at this price they clearly saved on something) on the packaging, which will still go to the trash bin for paper recycling, than on the device itself. Inside there was only the “essentials”: the MPOW H5 headphones themselves, a charging cable, a suede pouch for carrying (the headphones are foldable), a cable with 3.5 mm plugs in case the battery runs out and you need to turn into wired headphones without noise cancellation, an extremely short user manual for in English and Japanese, a card (the same one was in the box with MPOW T5), reminding that the headphones are prohibited from charging with a charger that produces more than 5 volts (not a superfluous reminder in the age of fast chargers) and a funny card showing that they can be connected to the TV using a Bluetooth adapter. At the same time, the manufacturer does not show off and does not put the usual adapter for an airplane seat in the box. Firstly, this cost will have to be passed on to the buyer, and secondly, it is unlikely that the buyer of such headphones often flies on airplanes.

Cable length 1.2 meters (by the way, for the first time in my life I measured it with a ruler, because in the description I met suspiciously wrong 0.3 meters, which obviously did not correspond to the truth) made flat, which in practice leads to the fact that it is much less confused than cables with a circular cross section .

What do MPOW H5 look like?

The headphones look nice - the ear pads are likeas expected, soft and comfortable to wear. The outer part of the headband is made of soft touch plastic, practical (easy to clean) and pleasant to the touch. Movable mechanical elements are metal, fixed in working position. They look reliable, at least after more than a month of daily use they have not become loose. The outer part of the headphones is also made of soft touch plastic, but, in my opinion, everything is spoiled by this polished decorative plate, which is too easily soiled to play its presentable role. Although its wavy shape is memorable, of course.

On the left earpiece are a microphone, portmicroUSB for charging with status LED, volume control keys and a separate Bluetooth button, which plays the role of switching on. The right earpiece contains a noise cancellation switch (ANC - Active Noise Cancellation), a jack for the cable and an LED indicator for the operation of the noise cancellation system. The controls are the same as on any other wireless headset - long pressing the volume keys moves to the next or previous song. To answer the call or play / pause, press the button with the Bluetooth icon. To reset an incoming call - long press.

LED during connection every 5 secondslights up blue, saying that everything is in order (at night it can be annoying, by the way). During the incoming call it glows red. If there is no incoming call, and the LED color is red, then it’s time to charge the headphones. Although they themselves begin to warn about the charge for 10-15 minutes before turning off. During charging, the LED is also red, changing to blue after the battery is fully charged.

Headphone cups rotate 90 degreesaround the vertical axis and may shift by 40 degrees inside the headband. In general, everything looks good and does not bode unpleasant surprises, except for the brand of the outer plate.

In a fully folded state, the headphones look like this. In this form, they can be put in a soft suede pouch and worn in a backpack or bag:

I would also like to say a special kind word aboutmaterials. Typically, the softness of those components that come into contact with the skin is directly proportional to the price of the headphones. The first thing I do when I pick up full-size headphones is feel the ear pads. Expensive models like the Philips SHB98850NC or Plantronics BackBeat Pro, not to mention the reference Sony WH-1000XM3, are soft and delicate. In this case, the softness and comfort are not discouraging, but very worthy, especially considering the price of the MPOW H5. In general, the trust established by the first acquaintance with the manufacturer continues to pay off.

How MPOW H5 sound

Frankly speaking, I had absolutely nono expectations from the performance of these headphones, just wondering - is it even possible to create full-size closed-back noise-cancelling headphones for $45 and where could there be a catch? There was no catch - the sound, of course, is not at the highest level, but I like their sound even without regard to the price. There is bass, the detail is not as deep as that of models for 100,500 money, but the sound is very decent, forcing you to pay attention, and if necessary, I am definitely ready to recommend them for purchase for modest money.

The noise reduction system works quite noticeably.You won't believe it, but I've come across more expensive models of full-size headphones that, when the noise reduction system is turned on,… nothing happens. Here, of course, there is no acoustic dead room, as in the Sony WH-1000XM3, which I adore, which cannot be praised enough, but these are the first headphones with such a price tag that actually have noise reduction not only in words.

How often should I charge MPOW H5

They sent me a version updated this year.headphones, which has significantly increased battery life - from 18 to 30 hours of music playback (with noise cancellation turned off). And even in the user's manual, without further ado and without bothering to print a new booklet, a piece of paper with new characteristics is simply pasted over the old ones. In practice, with noise cancellation turned on, I charged them every three days using a full-time job. That is, hours 20-25 they worked with noise reduction. I charged them 2.5-3 hours.

What else can MPOW H5 headphones do?

These headphones have no special functions anymore.no (for example, NFC, AptX support, or some kind of voice assistant with an application), but they support the rare but useful multipoint feature, that is, simultaneous connection via Bluetooth with two devices. This can be useful for those who (like me, for example) listen to music during the day from their work computer, but do not want to miss a call on their phone. Plus, such full-size headphones are still bought for listening indoors rather than outdoors. By the way, on the street in the hot period in mid-June, it was really hot outside in them, the headphones were clearly not for the tropics. But in winter, apparently, on the contrary, it is more pleasant.

In the dry residue

MPOW H5 headphones, while not very good, are straightlet's say, at a high price they demonstrate surprisingly decent sound and (what is even more surprising, although this is not in the first place) good materials and competent engineering work. Despite the fact that their main advantage is their price (in this price segment, it is, frankly, rare to find noise-canceling headphones), they still provide a really long battery life and honestly earn every penny spent on them. Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the lack of support for aptX, which has already become a de facto standard for lovers of wireless sound, and among the pleasant little things is the ability to simultaneously connect to two Bluetooth devices.

5 reasons to buy MPOW H5 headphones:

 • You can meet a modest budget and get noise reduction;
 • decent sound and surprisingly good materials for the price;
 • long battery life (you can charge every three days);
 • folding structure = convenient to transport, take up less space in the bag;
 • Support for two simultaneous Bluetooth connections.

2 reasons not to buy MPOW H5 headphones:

 • no aptX support (well, NFC too, although it’s not that important anymore);
 • there is an opportunity to choose a model more seriously.

Headphones MPOW H5

Low-cost, full-size noise canceling Bluetooth headphones

MPOW H5 Headphones Honestly Work Eacha penny spent on them. In addition to active noise cancellation, they are pleased with the long battery life, surprisingly good materials and a pleasant addition in the form of a simultaneous Bluetooth connection to two devices. Can turn into wired headphones without noise reduction. But I would also like to have full happiness and support aptX.

Another reason to spend gg-koin

These headphones can be purchased with our gg-coins. Regular readersggthey know that we have “game currency” on our website,which is awarded for each visit to the site, each comment left. So far, ggc could be used to pay for a site without advertising (in this case, you will not see a single banner - this is even better than banner cutting, because all the banner spaces simply collapse and are not left with holes). But it’s time to open a new page in the site’s history - some gadgets can be picked up by spending gg coins. In this case, you need to go to your account settings, select the gg-coins tab and transfer 0.05 gg-coins to the user “Technoslav Bergamot” (this is not as little as it looks). I will send these headphones to the person who makes the transfer first. For the rest, I'll just send the translation back and update this text to notify everyone that the device has been given away.
