What does the MSI Clutch GM31 Lightweight look like?

</ img>

Recently, we reviewed the MSI Clutch GM31 Lightweight Wireless. As the name suggests, today we are talking about an almost similar model, the differences are really minimal. The shape has remained unchanged, so the mouse is asymmetrical and adapted for use with the right hand.A similar matte black plastic with a rough surface is used, and on the back is the logo of the MSI gaming line with lighting. The main buttons are separated from the body.

</ img>

The sidewalls have a rubber-like coating withtexture pattern, which helps to more securely hold the mouse during use. Additional buttons are glossy, have a standard shape, but the separation between them is almost not felt.

Non-illuminated scroll wheel with a pleasant texture and rubber-like coating.

</ img>

The cable has a fairly massive and reliable protection against bending at the point of attachment to the mouse. Which, in turn, is placed high enough, so that the cable does not cling to the surface.

</ img>

The bottom part is slightly different from the Wireless version.Around the perimeter there are four Teflon slides, the sensor hole also has aTeflon bezel. On the side there is a button for switching the DPI.

</ img>

The MSI Clutch GM31 Lightweight usesbranded FriXionFree cable 2 meters long. It has a very soft and lightweight woven outer covering. The cable easily takes any necessary shape and is almost not felt during use.

</ img>

The mouse is very well made, not a single detaildoes not wobble or make any sound. The dimensions remained unchanged: 120x64x37 mm, while the weight decreased to 58 g due to the lack of need for a battery. Therefore, the MSI Clutch GM31 Lightweight will appeal to connoisseurs of ultralight models.

How convenient is it to use?

MSI Clutch GM31 Lightweight in its shapeidentical to the cordless model, so it is also very comfortable and great for the palm or finger grip that the vast majority of players use. The difference in feeling when using is due to the reduced weight. This – It’s quite a subjective thing, but connoisseurs of lightweight mice are definitely worth a try. The model is very easy to control and holds securely in the hand. Weight distribution, like the Wireless, is correct. Therefore, the mouse will not fall over and cling to the surface when you lift it.

Switches in buttons are similar to MSI ClutchGM31 Lightweight Wireless. The main ones use the familiar OMRON with a resource of 60+ million operations. They have a very clear and pleasant click with a fairly short stroke, which allows you to develop sufficient speed. Unfortunately, there is no official information about additional buttons. There is a suspicion that there is Kailh or something like that. As for the scroll wheel, the situation is less pleasant, precisely due to the identity of the wireless model. The wheel is absolutely quiet, but with not very clear cutoffs.

The mouse is perfectly controlled on almost any surface and glides well.

What can MSI Clutch GM31 Lightweight do?

</ img>

The main difference between MSI Clutch GM31 Lightweight andWireless is a sensor. Instead of the energy-efficient PixArt PAW3311, there is installed, although not the newest, but very high-quality optical PixArt PMW3360, which we have already seen many times in top models. It has a resolution of 12,000 DPI and is capable of tracking movements at speeds of over 250 inches per second and acceleration up to 50g. Maximum polling rate – 1000 Hz. This sensor is known to many gamers and always works perfectly. In the case of the MSI Clutch GM31 Lightweight, there were no surprises: no crashes, cursor jitter or any other problems.

The basic settings are exactly the same aswireless version. The DPI indicator is switched using the corresponding button on the bottom of the mouse. Standard presets: 400/800/1600/3200/6400. Setting the backlight without software:

 • DPI + right button: brightness level
 • DPI+left button: select backlight effect
 • DPI+First Secondary Button: Backlight Effect Speed
 • DPI + second additional button: color selection

MSI Center Proprietary Softwareresponsible for configuring all MSI peripherals. We have already considered it in the previous review. In general, almost everything you need is there, but so far the software looks a bit damp, and some elements are not quite logically placed. Basic settings are made in button definitions, profiles, DPI levels, frequency, anti-aliasing and lift-off height. The backlight setting has been moved to a separate Mystic Light section.
