Musk demonstrates how a monkey with a Neuralink chip implanted in the brain prints with the power of thought - human trials will begin in 2023

American billionaire Elon Musk is ready to start chipping people.Neuralink has already sent

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) documents required to run human clinical trials.

What is known

Elon Musk's company wants to developa device that can be implanted in the brain. With its help, a person could, for example, control a computer with the power of thought. First of all, it is aimed at helping people with disabilities. Neuralink is testing the brain-computer interface (BCI) on monkeys and pigs. For example, last year the company showed a monkey playing pong.

The chip itself is a compact device with 64flexible threads, which is implanted in the brain in 15 minutes. Neuralink has released a new video in which a monkey with an N1 implant can type on a numeric keypad using the power of thought. It does this by converting neural impulses into information that a computer can interpret.

At the same time, the animal is only able to trackkeys highlighted in yellow on a laptop display. The company was able to move forward in a year, but N1 so far can only register brain activity to control cursor movement. At the same time, the system is still not able to transmit signals to the brain.

The debut of Neuralink took place in 2016.In the period 2019-2021 Elon Musk has said every year that his company "next year" will receive all the permits that will allow it to start testing the technology on humans. Now the billionaire claims that human trials will begin within six months.
