Named the date of the return of Russian and American astronauts to Earth

Roscosmos announced on Friday that two cosmonauts and an astronaut who were due to leave the International

space station this month, will be delivered to Earth at the end of September. This will ultimately double their time aboard the orbiting laboratory to more than a year.

Return of the Russians Sergei Prokopyevand NASA's Dmitry Petelin and Frank Rubio were postponed after the Soyuz capsule they were planning to fly in suffered a coolant leak while docking with the space station.

The empty Soyuz was sent to the stationat the end of February as a rescue capsule. The new three-person crew that was originally supposed to be on board the capsule will now depart from the space station on September 15, Roscosmos said.

Prokopyev, Petelin and Rubio are due to return on September 27; they launched into space on September 21, 2022, reports the Associated Press.
