It was reported that just last year in AfricaAbout 23.8 billion transactions were made using mobile phones. Thus, the total amount of transfers amounted to $456 billion. It is noted that compared to the same period in 2018, last year the amount of transfers increased by 28%.

The publication notes that this particular regionmanaged to break a record in the sector of mobile payment systems, as the above amount is 3.5 times more than all transactions that were recorded in South Asia.
