NASA flooded a stratospheric balloon in the Pacific Ocean with a telescope a day and a half after launch due to a gas leak

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) launched two

stratospheric ball. One of them continues to fly successfully, and the second was recently sunk in the Pacific Ocean.

What is known

Went to the bottom of the largest ocean on EarthSuper Pressure Balloon (SPB). It would have been launched on May 13 from New Zealand, but a day and a half later, the space agency was forced to flood it. The mission ended prematurely due to a gas leak that could not be repaired.

The balloon flew with a payload in the formtelescope Extreme Universe Space Observatory 2 (EUSO-2). The observatory was intended to detect the intergalactic ultra-high-energy particle stream that passes through the earth's atmosphere.

NASA specialists intend to find out the reason, according towhich had a gas leak in order to prevent similar situations in the future. At the same time, at least until the end of this year, the space agency does not plan to launch balloons.
