The Orion spacecraft went to Luna 16november. The Space Launch System (SLS), the world's most powerful rocket, has launched a capsule into space. The Artemis I mission lasted almost 26 days. During this time, the ship approached the Moon by about 130 km, flew around it in a far orbit and returned to Earth, having overcome a total of more than 2.25 million km.

The SLS rocket will remain the most powerful in the world,until SpaceX launches its Super Heavy. At launch, SLS boosters and RS-25 engines generated 3,850 tons of thrust. The Orion spacecraft was sent to the moon with the help of the second stage, while the first stage separated less than 10 minutes after launch.

The dummy Moonikin Campos was located in the space cockpit. He had his own task in this mission. It consisted of testing the suit, as well as collecting information about the load and radiation.

On December 11, Orion splashed down in the Pacific Ocean withusing parachutes, testing the thermal shield upon entry into the atmosphere. The ship was heading towards Earth at a speed of more than 30,000 km/h. The heat shield allowed it to be reduced to 32 km/h in a few minutes.

Second lunar mission under the Artemis programscheduled for May 2024. The Orion spacecraft will follow the same route, but instead of Moonikin Campos, astronauts will be in the cockpit. In 2025, humans will land on the surface of the moon for the first time in 73 years. They will be sent there by the SpaceX Starship.
