The space agency postponed the launch from 14 to 16November due to Storm Nicole. The rocket was not taken to the hangar, which would effectively postpone the Artemis I mission indefinitely due to the expiration of key components.
The storm damaged the rain protection of one of theaccelerators and flooded the pad to the Orion spacecraft. Immediately after that, NASA specialists reported that they would be able to fix all problems by November 16th. On the morning of November 15, NASA officially confirmed that the launch of the launch vehicle would not be delayed.
More information is now available about the damage.In particular, one of the biggest problems is a torn off strip of insulation from the Orion. Concerns are that such damage can cause overheating during flight.
Nevertheless, the leaders of Artemis I came toconclusion that in the absence of new threats, the design of the rocket and the spacecraft will be ready for launch. It is also noted that the mentioned damage is not included in the list of safety stop criteria.
