NASA has shown how an iceberg larger than London has broken off from the Brant Glacier

Since 2013, the world's first mobile Arctic station, Halley VI, has opened on the Brunt Glacier. Researchers

studying the main crack on the glacier, whichremained stable over the past 35 years, but in recent years has developed a speed of 4 km per year. Recently, a second crack appeared on the glacier - Halloween, which is moving towards the main crack on the opposite side of the glacier.

In the future, the stability of the glacier will be directlydepend on how long these cracks connect and where. In addition, it is likely that the Halley VI station will have to be moved further from the cracks to increase its safety.

NASA recently showed a perfectly rectangular iceberg that broke off from the Larsen Ice Shelf.
