NASA photographed the Chinese Zhurong rover from orbit

The HiRISE camera installed on board the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter satellite photographed the Chinese

Mars rover Zhurong from an altitude of 288 km. In the picture it is impossible to make out the details and structure of the device itself, but you can appreciate the path it took along an unfamiliar planet.

The rover looks like a tiny bluishan object that creeps alone against the background of the sandy landscapes of the Utopia plain. The camera captured the traces left by the research vehicle: two parallel lines writhing across the dusty ground.

The scientists also showed a wide panoramic image, which shows the entire path that Zhurong has traveled around Mars since landing. Since May 14, 2021, the device has already traveled about 1.5 km.

Zhurong, named after the Chinese god of fire -Chinese apparatus for exploring Mars. The rover has already completed its main scientific program, but continues to explore the Utopia Planitia. It was previously reported that Chinese scientists, based on data obtained by Zhurong, suggested that billions of years ago Utopia was an ancient ocean.

HiRise (High Resolution Imaging ScienceExperiment is a camera installed on board the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft. The camera's capabilities allow you to take high-resolution photographs (up to 30 cm per pixel).

Earlier, NASA published photos of the beginning of spring on Mars. HiRISE camera observations captured partially thawed dunes inside Kaiser Crater.
