NASA recorded the sound of a meteorite impact on Mars for the first time in human history

For the first time in history, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration was able to

record the sound of meteoroids falling on Mars.

What is known

For this, the InSight device was used. The device allowed specialists from NASA to accurately determine the place where the meteoroid fell. It split into several parts after it entered the atmosphere of the Red Planet. Three craters were found at the crash site.

The reason for the gurgling sound that youhear, is the dry atmosphere of Mars, through which sound waves pass. NASA says the craft hears something that looks like a gurgle because it is so far away. An observer near the site of the meteoroid would have heard the explosion.

For those who are not in the know

InSight has been studying Mars for several years.years. He landed on the Red Planet in 2018 and since then has been helping NASA scientists explore the processes that take place in the depths of Mars. But the device is able to record some phenomena not only somewhere at a depth, but also in close proximity to it. For example, the explosion of a meteoroid when it enters the atmosphere.
