NASA Shows First Ingenuity Flight on Mars

Air traffic controllers from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California showed a video of the flight of an Ingenuity helicopter

after receiving data and images with the Perseverance rover.

Not only NASA, but the entire world had to wait more than three hours before knowing whether a pre-programmed flight at a distance of 287 million km from Earth was successful.

Ingenuity rose about 3 m above the surface of Mars and stayed at this height for about 30 seconds. The drone then landed.

Initially, the launch of the helicopter was supposed to take place on April 11. However, the dates were postponed several times.

When the data on the successful takeoff and landing of the firsthelicopters on another planet were finally delivered to Earth, the operations center was filled with applause. Later, the first black and white photograph from Ingenuity appeared. It showed the shadow of a helicopter as it hovered over the surface of Mars.

Later, NASA showed the first video of the "Ingenuity" flight on Mars. The engineers note that the success of the mission opens up new opportunities for exploring other planets.
