Nearly half of US government officials use older versions of Android

According to a new report, almost half of Android smartphones used by government and civil servants

US local governments are running outdated versions of the operating system. And this is unsafe.

Researchers at cybersecurity firm Lookout analyzed 200 million devices and 175 million apps and found that millions of government-owned smartphones are vulnerable to vulnerabilities.

Lookout reports that 30% of federal devicesgovernments and almost 50% of state and local government devices have not been updated to Android 12 ten months after its release. In fact, 10.7% of federal government devices and another 17.7% of state and local government devices were running Android 8 and 9, which are no longer supported.
