New development helped robots move using their own energy

Many plants and animals, especially small ones, use special body parts that acthow

Plants such as Venusian flytraps are good examples of this kind of movement.

However, most of these clicking devices need motor or human assistance to keep moving. However, in the new work, the authors have created an application that does not requirebatteries or motors.

After studying the basic physical properties of these systems, the team experimented with different shapes to find the ones that wouldreact correctly and move without any help.

The team showed that with the help of modified springs, the robot can independently climb stairs.

This shows how materials can generate powerful motion by using interactions with the environment, such as through evaporation. This is important for the development of new robots, especially small ones that are difficult to accommodate  motors, batteries or other sources of energy.
