New underwater drone shows marine life in 4K video

The actions of the V-EVO underwater drone are controlled by an operator on the surface using a communication cable. Using

handheld controller connectedto the cable, the user transmits commands to the drone, viewing video in real time using cameras, using a special application on a smartphone.

The length of the cable is 100 meters, it is alsomaximum depth of the drone. It is equipped with a camera with a wide-angle lens with a viewing angle of 166 degrees. The maximum resolution is 4K/60 frames per second.

In the deep dark waters the camera is assisted by two5,000-lumen forward-facing LED floodlights. Artificial intelligence-based image enhancement software also helps produce high-quality images and filter out plankton and other suspended particles. The footage is recorded onto a built-in 64GB memory card.

The port on the underside of the drone can be connected toadditional peripherals for remote control. With six motors, the V-EVO is capable of moving in all directions through 360 degrees.

The Fifish drone weighs 4.1 kg and has a maximumtravel speed up to 3 knots (5.6 km/h). It remains operational at water temperatures from –10 to 60 ºC. One battery charge lasts for one hour of active movement and four hours in hover mode.

Prices for the Fifish V-EVO start at $1,299 for a kit that includes the drone, cable, and carrying case. You can see the drone in action and watch the footage it captured in the video below.
