New wearable device disguises the wearer regardless of the weather

The device, which is in the proof-of-concept stage, has a surface that cools quickly

or heats up according to the ambient temperature, masking the user's body heat.

The surface can heat up from 10 to 38 °C lessin less than a minute. At the same time, its internal part remains at the same temperature as human skin - this makes it convenient for use. The wireless device can be built into fabric, such as a headband, and a more advanced version allows the protection to be worn as a jacket.

To create a device, the team used tophase-changing material, similar to wax, but with more complex properties. The melting point of the material is 30 ° C, which corresponds to the surface temperature of human skin. If the temperature outside the device is higher, the material will melt and stabilize, isolating the user; if colder, it will slowly solidify, acting as an insulating layer.

Earlier it was reported that the European consortium Airbus Helicoptersis developingsmoke screen system for the H145M helicopter. This will allow you to hide the location of the helicopter during hovering and landing.
