They are already here
At the end of March this year, Microsoft founder Bill Gates announced the beginning of the era of artificial
Despite the fact that the founder of the tech giantspoke primarily about the success of OpenAI, with which Microsoft cooperates and which gave the world the same ChatGPT, his words fully refer to the growing efficiency and popularity of generative AI in general. Even today, algorithms generate music that is used in media products; write fiction and code; “paint” pictures that “take away” prestigious awards from artists. And these are not some experiments, but part of everyday life. And the demand for such solutions will grow.

“The popularity of generative AI, in contrast, for example, from VR and AR technologies, is due to the fact that already at the start a large number of scenarios for its use for various business tasks are clear. With their help, you can find new insights, optimize processes, solve routine tasks faster, audit advertising campaigns, reducing the burden on employees. Already, the AI technologies of VK Ads, trained on hundreds of thousands of campaigns and messages, help generate texts for ads. Advertisers use them in ready-made campaigns or adapt them to fit their needs. This increases the speed of setting up and launching ads, especially when a business uses hundreds of ad options,” said Stanislav Bonbin, VK Advertising Technology Product Director.
He emphasized that one can single outtechnologies for generating images and videos for advertising campaigns that are actively gaining popularity in the global market. Bonbin is sure that in 2023 such tools will also appear on Russian advertising platforms.
On the way and a mini-revolution for the privatePC user, AI will soon begin to change the way millions of people think and work. The same Microsoft will introduce a new generation of GPT into office applications, allowing you to make presentations based on text in a matter of seconds, Google is following the same path, a new wave of introducing generative AI into applications is starting.

It used to be the most "hype" applicationsfor photo editing or creating an avatar, and now the introduction of language models into existing services is beginning. Duolingo is getting a full-fledged virtual teacher, Stripe is getting a built-in business assistant, Replit is helping to create apps, and Pictory is getting video. Convenient, efficient, saves time. But what will happen next?
...and won't go anywhere
The twenties have every chance of becoming the decade of AI, opening up new opportunities for humans in all areas, changing the whole world.
“In the next two years, humanity, thanks toThe development of generative AI systems is expected to undergo a huge technological leap. New language models, in particular, the same GPT-4, will once again spur global competition, launching an “arms race” in the field of AI, which companies from China, Russia and other countries are already ready to get involved in. Particular solutions aimed at specific areas will receive particular development: language models trained on scientific articles will make it possible to summarize all accumulated knowledge, and, for example, generative artistic AI systems will learn to create graphs, diagrams and even drawings. On the other hand, an Internet of cognitive agents will be built: they will be connected into a single network, which can be accessed by the same GPT-4. For example, he will be able to independently access Midjourney or its analogues and produce an image upon request,” says the director of science and technology at the Artificial Intelligence Agency, author and host of the YouTube channel “Dushkin will explain.”
According to him, this process will go into realworld: ChatGPT will be integrated with robots, will be able to work with information from sensors, evaluate it and real world events. We can also expect the emergence of a “substance generation system”, which will make a breakthrough in materials science, pharmacology and medicine, as well as technology based on Stable Diffusion, which will allow decoding the internal state of the brain and visualize it, which in the future will make it possible, for example, to record dreams. .
As the expert noted, the prospects thatdiscovers artificial intelligence, could not go unnoticed by states: from the USA to Vietnam, from Brazil to India. Almost all significant countries are busy developing their own approaches and concepts regarding the coming technological leap.
In Russia, by the way, the legal concept“artificial intelligence” was first formulated only in 2019, and in mid-January 2023, the Government agreed with business on a roadmap for the development of artificial intelligence. Universities are actively involved in the process, offering advanced courses in AI, and even the cultural community: they recently began filming the first series based on a script written by a neural network. According to some estimates, AI could add 1% to the country’s GDP as early as 2025.

But there are also downsides to this process.Mass unemployment due to the replacement of people by machines, by the way, is not necessary: according to the report of the Swiss NGO World Economic Forum, AI, although it will “destroy” 85 million jobs, will create 97 million new ones, in fact only increasing demand in the labor market. Yes, probably, we will talk about specialists of a different level and mass retraining programs, but this issue does not seem so unsolvable in comparison with the others.
Healthy concerns?
In a peculiar response to Gates' greeting to the newera of artificial intelligence was an open letter from prominent representatives of the IT community calling for the suspension of work on the creation of new language models that will replace the "current" GPT-4.
Document signed bySpaceX, Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, AI researcher Joshua Bengio, Getty Images CEO Craig Peters and more than a thousand experts noted the need to suspend work on a new language model for at least six months. In their opinion, the project can carry serious risks, “become smarter and replace” all of humanity. The letter notes that decisions of this level should not be made by the leaders of technology companies, which no one elected.

There were other statements:earlier this year, AI was massively opposed by artists, and more recently, a chatbot based on GPT-J, an analogue of GTP-3, allegedly caused a man to commit suicide in Belgium. There is also a well-known example of a school in China, where the brain activity of students in class was monitored using neurohoops: after pressure from society, the administration had to abandon the use of technology. And Italy has already managed to “ban” ChatGPT due to security reasons for the information provided to the chat bot. And this despite the fact that modern chatbots are already subject to restrictions from the outside, because of which they “refuse” to answer a number of questions or generate some images: no one will be able to get advice on making dangerous substances or weapons without effort.
Dialogue on the ethics of AI, its capabilities and facetspermitted continues and new restrictions are likely to emerge. But whether the society will have time to respond is still unclear - ChatGPT-5, according to rumors, may appear at the end of this year and its capabilities will many times exceed the current version, which, by the way, wrote the first paragraph of this text.
