Northrop Grumman has tested an energy beam guidance system to transmit electricity from space to Earth

Northrop Grumman was able to successfully test the energy beam guidance system. He will become

the main element of the system for transmitting solar energy from space to our planet.

What is known

American manufacturer is developingorbital solar power plant. A successful test of the beam guidance system means that the company will be able to launch a prototype solar power plant into space in three years.

Last year, Northrop Grumman created a panelcapable of converting the energy of the Sun into electricity, and the electricity itself into a radio frequency beam. This allows you to transmit energy over a distance, abandoning the wires.

Such panels can be installed on simplesatellites like solar panels. At the same time, no additional equipment is required for aiming at receivers on Earth. All this happens thanks to electronics.

The US military is interested in the technology. They believe Northrop Grumman's system will be able to power military bases and disaster areas.
