What is known

In recent years, part of Qatar's defense procurementwas associated with ensuring security during the World Cup, which these days is taking place in the country's stadiums with an area of less than 12,600 square meters. km. However, due to the “peculiarities” of the region, the emirate is forced to continue strengthening its defense capabilities, despite the fact that the World Cup will end in two weeks.

The US State Department approved the saleQatar anti-drone systems. The development of SRC Technology is called FS-LIDS (Fixed Site-Low, Slow, Small Unmanned Aircraft System Integrated Defeat System) and was created for the US Army.

The contract value was $1 billion. This amount includes two hundred Raytheon Coyote Block II interceptor missiles, AN/TPQ-50 radars, electro-optical cameras for tracking small drones and additional equipment. Separately, it is worth noting that the Coyote Block II uses a multifunctional KuRFS (Ku-band Radio Frequency) radar, which is able to detect a 9 mm caliber bullet. At least that's what Raytheon says.

FS-LIDS is designed to combat variousunmanned aerial vehicles - from the most compact to drones of the third group. These are UAVs that typically weigh 55-1320 pounds (25-600 kg), travel at altitudes of up to 18,000 feet (5.5 km) at speeds of up to 450 km/h and can carry large explosives or advanced payloads for surveillance and intelligence.
