Norway has signed a contract with the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann for the purchase of modern Leopard 2A7 tanks.

The contract provides for the production of 54 tanks withsubsequent option to order another 18 units. The country's Ministry of Defense has not yet disclosed the price of the contract. As for the first deliveries, they will begin in 2026.

According to the Prime Minister of Sweden, it isRussia's war against Ukraine influenced the decision to purchase additional weapons. By the way, Sweden does not exclude the possibility of transferring older Leopard 2 models to Ukraine.
