Not just a preset: RuStore is deeply integrated into the system

Last May, the formal announcement of RuStore, a Russian application store for Android devices, took place.

created as a replacement for Google Play.Moreover, even then it was said that it would be pre-installed on all smartphones sold in the country. But now the Ministry of Digital Development has decided to go further: the department has put forward a project according to which the matter will not be limited to one preset. The implication is that the RuStore app must be deeply embedded in the system, including issuing the same system permissions that other stores have.

Moreover, RuStore should open the first timelaunch of the device, and gadget manufacturers are obliged to ensure the operation of NFC payments through RuStore. And this despite the fact that this function has not yet been implemented in RuStore itself. Experts call these amendments “strange” and believe that they will become an additional barrier for vendors wishing to work in the Russian market. In a worst-case scenario, this could provoke some of them to leave the Russian Federation.
