What is known

We are talking about the Hawk anti-aircraft missile system.In addition, Sweden, together with Germany, will transfer additional installations for the IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine. For security reasons, Sweden does not disclose the quantity and timing of the delivery of weapons.

For those who are not in the know

Hawk (Homing All the Way Killer) isAmerican medium-range air defense system. It was developed in 1954-1960 by Raytheon. It was put into service in 1960 and has since received many modifications and improvements. The US Army stopped operating the Hawk in 2002. In total, more than 40,000 air defense systems were produced. Hawk is capable of intercepting missiles and aircraft. The probability of hitting the target is 85% (in the I-Hawk modification). The maximum operating range of the complex is 50 km.

IRIS-T is a medium-sized anti-aircraft missile systemrange of action. It was developed by the German company Diehl Defense in 2014. The complex is designed to destroy airplanes, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise and ballistic missiles. IRIS-T is considered one of the most advanced air defense systems. Currently, Ukraine is armed with one air defense missile system battery.
