Nothing has changed: the new iPad is practically not repairable

It seems that against the backdrop of the new iPhone 11, many missed the release of the 10.2-inch iPad tablet. And here are the guys from iFixit

They didn’t forget and already disassembled it, not forgetting to evaluate its maintainability.

What's inside

During disassembly, specialists found 3GB of RAM is 1 GB more than in the previous generation. But the battery capacity, despite the increase in the screen and size of the tablet, remains the same, although Apple promises the same autonomy as the previous version with a smaller screen.

The pluses of the new product include the lack of full lamination of the display, which is why broken glass and the display will be easy to replace.

Already by tradition, the main disadvantage was the abundance of glue. This will make it difficult to replace the battery and motherboard: they are tightly glued to the case. In addition, the Lightning port, which breaks quite often, is soldered to the board.

As a result, the iPad received 2 points out of 10 for repairability. In principle, this is the usual rating for Apple tablets: last year’s iPad also got a 2, and the iPad Pro got 3 points.
