The chief designer of the Chinese lunar program, Wu Weiren, said that the power supply of the base on the satellite
Chinese engineers do not disclose detailsnuclear reactor under development, but earlier it was reported that the planned capacity should be about 1 MW of energy. This should be enough to power an underground bunker, a module for multiple takeoff and landing on the lunar surface, a communication system with the Earth, and research ships.

China plans to build a station near the South Polemoon by the end of 2028. It is assumed that the initial configuration of the base will include a lander, a bunker and an orbiter. In addition, a lunar rover will be used for work and research, which can be charged at the station.
Researchers focus on an area within a districtsouth pole due to high illumination. At a latitude of about 89°, there are up to 180 consecutive light days, which is ideal for a mission with astronauts.
According to Wu Weiren, the basic configuration of the lunarThe bases will be delivered to the surface of the natural satellite of the Earth and assembled during the planned missions of the Chang'e-6 - Chang'e-8 stations. After completion of work, the first astronauts will be able to arrive at the station. It is assumed that the station will be used only for some time, the permanent stay of astronauts is not yet planned.
