Nuclear tug "Zeus" will search for life in the Universe

And missions that go to Mars, to Venus, and in the future, after the creation of thermonuclear capabilities, with

moving beyond the solar system, it will be the most important task to discover and understand: are we alone in space, or is there other life.

Rogozin stated this at the Internationalconference on space exploration GLEX-2021. According to a contract previously published on the government procurement website, the development of the preliminary design of the tug will be completed by July 2024 and will cost 4.2 billion rubles.

He added that the development of elements of a nuclear tug based on a transport and energy module with a megawatt-class nuclear power plant has been under way in the country since 2010.

Earlier it became known about plans to launch a nucleartug into space by 2030 for flight testing. After that it is planned to begin its serial production and commercial use. 

It was reported that the nuclear tug would be designedfor flights to the moon and planets of the solar system. It received the name "Zeus", and the research and development work itself is called "Nuclon".
