Nvidia doubles the power of the latest generation of GPUs

Nvidia introduced the latest line of GeForce RTX 40 series video cards. According to the official statement, cards,

built on the new architecture of the thirdgeneration, they feature double the performance compared to the RTX 30 series. In the previous model, the developers focused on increasing frame rates and ray tracing.

There are three models in the GeForce RTX 40 series thoughnaming conventions have changed. Instead of the RTX 4070, there's the RTX 4080. It comes in two different versions, one with 12GB of GDDR6X memory and 7,680 CUDA cores, and the other with 16GB of memory and 9,728 cores.

The most advanced model is RTX 4090, it has 24 GBmemory and 16,384 CUDA cores. These three GPUs achieve increased clock speeds of 2.5 to 2.6 GHz, up from the last generation's top clock of 1.86 GHz.

All three cards are built on a new architecture, which Nvidia calls Ada Lovelace, in honor of the 19th century countess who is often considered the first programmer. The system contains up to 76 billion transistors (a huge jump from 28 billion in the last generation) and new ray tracing cores third generation. The latter are focused on the advanced lighting technology of the same name, which is apparently enhanced by 2.8 times. Nvidia claims that the entire package doubles the performance in games and creative applications compared to the RTX 30 series.

Along with hardware improvements, Nvidia has updatedsoftware functions. So, DLSS 3 increases the frame rate in games using resource-intensive settings such as ray tracing. And Nvidia's RTX Remix tool lets you apply these settings to older games.
