NVIDIA is suspending the release of its new RTX 4080 12GB graphics card. The company admits it got the name wrong.
The decision was made due to criticism.The problem is that the RTX 4080 16 GB model is completely different in terms of specifications. The RTX 4080 12 GB was supposed to start at $899 and contain 7680 CUDA cores, have a frequency of 2.31 GHz, 639 tensor teraflops, 92 RT teraflops and 40 shader teraflops. But the RTX 4080 16GB model is much more powerful with 9728 CUDA cores, 780 tensor teraflops, 113 RT teraflops, and 49 shader teraflops.
So far, NVIDIA has not revealed when it plans to relaunch the RTX 4080 12GB under a different name.
