NVIDIA will deprive owners of Shield consoles the ability to stream games from a computer

NVIDIA has decided to disable the GameStream feature, which allows you to stream games from a personal computer

to the Shield over Wi-Fi. Thus, users can play away from home, but only until the end of winter.

What is known

GameStream will run until mid-February2023. The American company has chosen not to explain why it is disabling this feature. NVIDIA offers Steam Link or GeForce Now services to users, but they have limitations.

Steam Link, as the name suggests, allows you to launch games from the Steam digital store. GeForce Now has its downside. It lies in the fact that for a full-fledged game you need to pay money. In the free tariff, the duration of the gaming session is only 1 hour.

Note that the GameStream function also hasnuances. It only works if the computer is equipped with an NVIDIA graphics card. For laptops - no older than the GeForce GTX 700M. Desktop - GeForce GTX 650 or later.
