The molecule of this drug imitates the work of a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide. Early research has shown that it helps reduce food intake and increase energy expenditure.
Each participant was randomly assigned to one offour groups: tirzepatide 5 mg, 10 mg or 15 mg or placebo. Treatment included one subcutaneous injection of the drug every week. The more the drug a person took, the more weight decreased. On average, volunteers lost 16% of their original body weight.
Tirsepatide officially submitted to the FDA at the endlast year as a cure for diabetes. Based on the successful results of the phase 3 study, approval of the drug is expected to occur within the next few months.
