On November 9, Google Introduces Required 2-Step Verification: What Does It Mean?

Back in May, Google promised to make two-step verification mandatory for users of its

services. And now that time has come.

What does it mean

The changes will come into force next week, 9November, and the company has already started sending relevant notifications to users. Two-step verification means that to log into your account you will need not only the password you create, but also a one-time password that you will receive in an SMS message or email.

"After entering your password, you will need to takeanother action using a smartphone. Keep your phone handy when logging in. Two-step verification will be automatically activated on November 9th. If you want, you can activate this feature in advance: your account is ready,” Google said in a notice.

Stealing passwords is the most common method.account hacking, especially considering that not everyone tries to come up with a complex password. And Google's two-factor authentication is designed to combat this and improve security.
