On Samsung smartphones, videos began to “freeze” while watching

A new bug has appeared on some Samsung Galaxy S22 smartphones that prevents users from watching videos

on streaming platforms.

Several Galaxy S22 users are reportingissues with adaptive screen refresh rates and apps like Amazon Prime and Netflix. The crux of the problem is that a smartphone's adaptive display switches to a lower refresh rate after a short period of inactivity, even when streaming content. That is, the system does not recognize when a video is playing on Netflix and Amazon Prime (and possibly other applications). Unfortunately, this results in video freezes.

The problem is software in nature, therefore, most likely, it can be fixed with a firmware update.
